Mad Max centers around the story of a dystopian society, murder, and revenge in post-apocalyptic Australia. It was released in 1979 and made $1,000,000, an amount that may seem trivial today but was worth a lot back then. For a while there, it also held the Guinness World Record for the most profitable film produced.

The film had a reboot in 2015, with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron as the lead actors. The new film, Mad Max: Fury Road, had a $150M budget and made $378M in the box office. To date, there have been four films produced in the franchise.
