H.E. Butt was founded in 1905 by Florence Butt, Charles Butt’s grandfather. The Butt family is currently based in Texas and is known for owning the popular H.E.B. Grocery, a supermarket chain of more than 300 stores and $20 billion in sales.
Back in 1905, Florence Butt opened the store as a means of offsetting the costs of the treatment brought about by her husband’s tuberculosis. The company quickly gained ground, becoming more and more successful throughout the years. Charles continues the family legacy, being heir to the fortune and serving as the company’s CEO to date.
