The Newhouse family is one of the oldest and most powerful media dynasties in America. The family business was a result of Sam Newhouse’s efforts, which started out as Advance Publications in 1922. He passed away in 1979 and his children, Donald and Si, now run the media empire.
In 2014, the company held the 44th spot as one of the largest private companies in the US. It currently publishes print newspapers in 25 of America’s biggest cities and has one of the most prominent online forums to its name: Reddit, touted as “the internet’s front page.”
