Cooling Down
This school of hippos was spotted keeping themselves cool under the hot African sun. Hippos are considered amphibious mammals, spending as much as 16 hours each day submerged in water to keep their skin cool and moist. If they can’t find water, they will try to submerge themselves in mud instead.
Hippos may appear harmless but they are actually considered one of the most dangerous creatures on Earth. They are highly aggressive, unpredictable, and will defend themselves using their large teeth if they sense a threat. Using a drone to observe them in the wild makes perfect sense!
