The Last Supper
If you look closely at this picture, you’ll notice that it shows more than just the body of a fish stuck in ice. Inside the block of ice is a slightly bigger fish right in the middle of chomping the smaller fish in half. How astonishing is it that the body of water reached the solid part of its freezing cycle right in the middle of dinner? Too bad the fish didn’t get the chance to properly enjoy its final meal. We have the fisherman in the photo to thank for retrieving this rather spectacular specimen.
This discovery may not be as amazing as, say, a baby mammoth’s brain, but it is a pretty neat one nonetheless. It serves as an illustration of the animal kingdom doing what it does best. This is a wonderful example of the predatory nature of our fellow Earthlings, caught in the moment and preserved in ice.
