The Berry Basket
Another amazing discovery found by scientists in one of the ice patches was a perfectly preserved basket made from birch. It may seem like a pretty basic item, but this discovery reveals a lot about the ancient humans who designed the basket. It was found in 2003 and was believed to have been made 650 years ago.
The basket has sloped edges and a 2.3-inch high rim. It was around 9.8 inches wide. It had a pretty interesting weaved pattern, which reveals the creativity and ingenuity of whoever created it. The weaves were folded into wooden panels and were not made from any plant material. Scientists hypothesize that this basket was used for gathering berries.
