Science on Ice: All The Most Incredible Discoveries

Beware of Global Warming
While we did mention that something good can be found in global warming, its effects are still clearly disastrous. For one, the artifacts buried beneath the ice are now subject to rotting. With the rapid melting of the ice and permafrost, these items will no longer be impervious to decomposition. They now become subject to the weathering processes just like everything else.

These prehistoric discoveries will no longer be in their beautifully preserved state. Once these artifacts are exposed to decomposers, their material will start to degenerate. The copper arrowheads will detach from their sheathing in just one year of exposure. Sinew will slowly deteriorate, and human and animal bone will wither in a span of 10 years.
