The Furry Rhino
I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine a rhino with fur. Apparently though, the rhinos who lived during the ice age had fuzzy coats to help them combat the extreme cold. Proof of this evolutionary phenomenon was recently discovered. The woolly rhino was found covered in fur, except for the parts of its body that had been chewed on by predators. This particular woolly rhino was believed to be 18 months old when it died.

The baby rhino’s body was discovered in Sakha, one of the coldest regions in northern Russia. According to scientists, the last of the woolly rhino species went extinct about 10,000 years ago. However, with this specimen’s remains so nicely preserved by the ice, scientists have the opportunity to learn plenty about these great beasts.
