Science on Ice: All The Most Incredible Discoveries

War Scenes
Aside from living creatures, scientists have also been able to discover the remains of old wars. For instance, during WWI, there were battles that took place high up in the Alps. If fighting in the war wasn’t bad enough, doing so in an icy trench made it even worse. Many soldiers who were not killed in battle were taken out by the deadly temperatures. Tons of them suffered from frostbite, even if they were spared from death.

Isn’t it sad to know how these soldiers were killed by an enemy they weren’t even trying to fight? The blistering cold feared no-one and took no sides. What it did take was the lives of thousands of people. As is the fate of all things submerged in freezing water, the bodies of these dead soldiers were well-preserved. The discovery of these sad soldier bodies was overwhelming, but as it turns out, this wasn’t the strangest ice-bound thing scientists have ever witnessed.
