Cretaceous Puppy
This discovery might not be as spectacular as the dinosaur we saw earlier, but this one hits close to home. This is no regular puppy, folks. This poor pup lived during the ice age, 12,460 years ago, to be exact. Is it just me, or is it kind of odd to imagine your pet living amongst T-rexes and other giant beasts? It is pretty spectacular to note that despite his extreme old age, the specimen is still preserved quite well.
This furry creature was discovered in the deep Siberian tundra, and has completely changed the way scientists perceive the evolution of canines during the ice age. The pup was discovered by accident: scientists were actually looking for mammoth tusks when they found it. In the middle of their search, they saw a part of this little guy’s body peeking out from a block of ice. What they ultimately found blew their minds.
