They say that if you give a girl the right shoes, she can conquer the world. Be that as it may, you should also make sure you don’t give her the wrong shoe polish. In the 20th century, a popular ingredient in shoe polish was nitrobenzene. It was an excellent compound for making shoes super shiny.
Unfortunately, nitrobenzene can also make a person faint if he or she puts on the shoes too soon after applying the polish. You could even die from poisoning if the nitrobenzene is inhaled while you’re indulging in some hard liquor, making it a dangerous cocktail for anyone who’s in a hurry to shine their shoes and get to a party.
