If you haven’t heard of Lysol (which is highly likely), it’s a popular kitchen cleaner in today’s times. In the past, however, this antiseptic soap was formulated with cresol, a compound which is found to cause burning, inflammation, and even death. It was also being promoted for feminine hygiene.
I don’t know what the makers of Lysol thought women wanted their lady parts to smell like but maybe they had an idea that women were after some kind of radiant freshness. Regardless of how effective it might be in the moment, washing with Lysol is certainly not a safe way to freshen up.
