In today’s times, there are a lot of treatment options for making teeth look whiter and brighter. Flashing those pearly whites is a part of everyday life, and so tooth whitening is one of the most common beauty trends for people to invest in. If you have less than white teeth, you’ll be happy to know that in the past, tooth lacquering was actually a trend.
From as far back as 200 CE, Vietnamese and Japanese people followed a practice called ohaguro, which involved dying one’s teeth black. A mix of chemicals would be painted over the teeth, bringing about a glossy, black finish in just one week. In 1870, Japan banned the practice.
