Robin Wright played the role of Jenny Curran, Forrest’s childhood friend who was also his lifelong love interest. Curran was a victim of sexual abuse when she was a child, leading her on a very different trajectory to Forrest; but their paths still cross throughout the movie.
She received several nominations for her performance in the film, including from the Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Several actresses turned down the role of Jenny, including stars like Demi Moore, Jodie Foster, and Nicole Kidman.
