Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump
After several actors turned down the role of Forrest Gump, it eventually fell in the hands of Tom Hanks. Chevy Chase was the last actor they offered it to, before finally deciding on Hanks. It turned out to be a good step for the producers as Hanks was so perfect for the role it’s impossible to imagine anyone else in Forrest’s shoes.
Not only did Hanks find himself in a film that would go on to receive numerous awards, it also helped him gain an opening to becoming a dramatic actor, expanding from the lighthearted comedy of his early career to more serious roles.
