Sally Field as Mrs. Gump
Sally Field played the role of Mrs. Gump, Forrest’s mother, in the film. Although her character looks quite old in the movie, the actress was only ten years older than Hanks when it was filmed. Prior to Forrest Gump, Field and Hanks also worked together on the 1988 film Punchline, with Field playing the love interest of Hanks.
Apart from Forrest Gump, Sally Field also appeared in notable films like Mrs. Doubtfire in 1993 and Lincoln in 2012. She has received numerous awards including two Golden Globes, two Academy awards, three Primetime Emmys, and a Screen Actors Guild award. She also earned nominations from BAFTA and the Tony Awards.
