Scenes from Vietnam
In one of the scenes, Forrest becomes friends with Abbie Hoffman, an activist who invites him to speak in an anti-war protest of his experience in Vietnam. During his speech, no-one is able to hear what Forrest is saying as the mic is unplugged.
This is what Forrest was really saying during the rally in D.C. – “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.”
