When Storm was able to bring the little deer back on dry land, the animal was weak with exhaustion. It had been through a tremendous amount of strain while it struggled to remain afloat and it was disoriented and suffering from shock.
When Frankie and Erica arrived, the baby deer was at the brink of death, and the couple realized how lucky it was that they had arrived in time to rescue it. Had they been late even by a few minutes, the little creature wouldn’t have had such a happy ending.
