While the baby deer was successfully rescued, his story doesn’t end there. Upon checking the animal, the STARS team realized that he had subcutaneous emphysema, a condition where oxygen gets trapped under the skin and can cause complications such as infection.
The rescue team decided to give the little creature a course of mild antibiotics along with regular feeds of baby formula to help his recovery. They also made sure that the deer was given a high protein diet, along with a generous helping of fresh grass.
