Having finally rescued the baby deer, Frankie and Erica immediately took him back to the rescue center and made sure the animal would be treated properly. Initially, they wondered why the deer was so desperately trying to swim, especially when they aren’t overly aquatic creatures.
Due to the deer’s young age, it wasn’t capable of handling the cold water and strong currents in the estuary. Deer can and do swim across waterways when necessary, but these are usually only on short distances as they are better equipped for dry land.
