Persian Cats
As its name suggests, the Persian cat actually did originate in Iran. The origin of the breed can be traced to the country’s mountainous regions, where the cold temperatures and harsh winters allowed it to evolve and grow longer fur than most cat breeds.
These precious felines are believed to have been brought to the world outside of Iran by Italian traders in the 1600s. The demand for this particular breed continued to grow over the years, and it soon became a status symbol. Today, Persian cats are the second most popular breed in the United States.
