Up until the Iranian revolution, the nation was ruled by a royal family. Just like many other royal families, Iran’s monarchs, the Pahlavis, had amassed a large collection of jewels, beginning in the 16th century until they were overthrown in 1979. This collection, which includes thirty tiaras, several crowns, shields, swords, gems, dining sets, and other precious items, are among the rarest and most expensive in the world.
Today, the collection is housed at The Treasury of National Jewels in Tehran. Although some items were stolen and smuggled across the border after the revolution, most remained intact and have been on display at the Central Bank of Iran since the 1990s.
