The Silver State, Part 2
In 1859, Comstock Lode, the richest US silver deposit known to man, was discovered. This paved the way for Nevada’s silver rush days, where silver was abundant and easily accessible. In the Nevada desert, it was not unusual to silver beds that were as long as one kilometer. These silver deposits were crucial to the statehood of Nevada. It also significantly helped boost its economy during the 19th century. Until today, mining remains a vital part of their economy.
