The Treasure State, Part 2
There are many interesting things to learn about Montana. For instance, did you know that married women are prohibited from going fishing alone on Sundays? And unmarried women are not allowed to go fishing alone at all. The word “ditch,” in the Montana dictionary, means “with water.” You could actually use the term to order a drink. For instance, you can say, “A Jack Daniel’s ditch, please” or “A Jack ditch, please,” and you will be given Jack Daniel’s with water. I am not making this up.
Montana has the most elk herds in all of the United States. When you’re in the state, expect to see animal carcasses displayed on the top of private cars. Hunting is a common sport among Montanans; to prove your worth in this state, you would have to be able to shoot a full-grown elk, moose, or deer. If you are not capable of doing so, then you basically belong to an inferior class.
