The Show Me State, Part 2
Once again, welcome to Missouri, the land of historical moments and creative inventions. In 1912, Captain Berry made history by being the first man to complete a successful parachute jump from a moving airplane. The tallest man in the world, Robert Pershing Wadlow, is from St. Louis. He stood eight feet and 11.1 inches tall. Missouri was also the first slave state to free its slaves.

Did you know that it was in Missouri that many people’s favorite drink – iced tea – was invented? It was Richard Blechyden, in 1904, who decided to try serving tea over ice. In the same year, at the St. Louis World’s Fair, an ice cream vendor ran out of cups to serve his product in, so he asked a neighboring waffle vendor to create a makeshift container by rolling up waffles. Hence, the ice cream cone was born. Meanwhile, this doctor seems to need a lesson or two about how to properly eat pizza. Looks like not all Missourians are geniuses.
