The First State, Part 2
If you are from any other state in the US, your car registration tag might seem like a simple government requirement. However, if you are from Delaware, you know that these license plates are a status symbol and a representation of your history. Delawareans have a special relationship with these license plates, specifically the tag number. They would even go to great lengths such as bartering to get their preferred number.

The image above is a classic example of a high-class tag. The most desired tag in the state is the black and white porcelain style introduced in the 1940s. The 1950s black stainless steel tags are highly coveted as well. The history behind these tags is truly colorful, even the changes in font style are controversial.
