The Old Dominion
The state of Virginia got its name after Queen Elizabeth I, the “Virgin Queen.” The first permanent English settlement in America, Jamestown, is located here. It was where Pocahontas was said to have saved Captain John Smith’s life from being executed by her father. The state has earned various nicknames through the centuries, such as “Old Dominion,” because it remained loyal to King Charles II during the English Civil War. It was also called the “Mother of States” because eight states were either partly or completely carved from it. Lastly, it is also called the “Mother of Presidents” because eight presidents hailed from the state.

Where else in the US can you enjoy a free sample of illicitly distilled liquor? Bill Jones might not have the best spelling skills, but his message is as clear as day. Apparently, he’s of the understanding that the pohlice in Virginia aren’t that sharp. Since this advertisement looks like it’s been up for quite a while, he might not be entirely wrong.
