Every American State Summed Up In A Single Photograph

The Mount Rushmore State
South Dakota is most famous for being home to the massive sculpture of four US Presidents carved into a mountainside. The Mount Rushmore National Memorial, located in the Black Hills, was established in 1925. The works of art were accomplished by sculptor Gutzon Borglum from 1927 to 1941.

The heads of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln were handpicked respectively as symbols of the country’s birth, growth, development, and preservation. Speaking of preservation, this buffalo seems serious about protecting prairie dogs. Aside from the sign that prohibits the disturbance and feeding of the burrowing rodents, looks like someone even engaged the services of a big old buffalo to watch out for potential lawbreakers.
