The Beaver State
Among all the states in the USA, Oregon is perhaps most diverse in terms of geography. It contains everything from volcanoes to lush forests and evergreens, abundant bodies of water, and even deserts and arid shrublands as well. Its highest point is Mount Hood, a stratovolcano. It has a stunning national park called the Crater Lake National Park and is home to the Armillaria ostoyae, the world’s largest single organism. It is a fungus that is located beneath 2,200 acres of the Malheur National Forest.
Let’s be honest, Oregon is home to as many strange people as it is strange fungi. It is, after all, known as the epicenter of the hipster movement. This image of a long-haired guy wearing a green bonnet and pale scarf while typing on an old typewriter on a train is pretty much the epitome of a true Portland local. Why take your laptop to Starbucks when you can bust out a vintage typewriter on a train?
