The Great Lake State
The word Michigan comes from the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, which means “large water” or “large lake.” Michigan is the 10th most populous state in the US. It is also the only US state that consists of two peninsulas: the Lower Peninsula that is shaped like a mitten, and the Upper Peninsula (or “the UP”). The two peninsulas are connected by the Mackinac Bridge. Michigan is also home to the longest freshwater coastline in the world. As such, the state is one of the greatest venues for recreational boating. With almost 65,000 lakes and ponds, a person in Michigan is never more than six miles away from a natural water source.

Michigan is known for its freezing temperatures which endure for most of the year. Detroit is also essentially a war zone all year round, so you’d better come prepared. Perhaps try following the lead of the truck in this picture and deck your vehicle out with some serious roadkill. Surely no-one would mess with anyone stepping out of a rig like that.
