The Sunflower State
Kansas is one of the country’s most productive agricultural states. It is active in providing high yields of soybeans, corn, wheat, and sorghum. It is the 15th largest state by area and is the 34th most populated in the country. Its residents are called Kansans, and the state’s highest point is Mount Sunflower.
Kansas might be called the Sunflower State, but it is also the tornado capital of the world. The state experiences intense storms that cause frightening lightning and destructive tornadoes. This is, after all, the state from which Dorothy was transported via tornado to the land of Oz!
