The Hoosier State
The state name Indiana simply means “land of the Indians.” A local from Indiana is officially called a “Hoosier,” hence the state nickname. The etymology of the word is widely disputed, but one of the leading theories explains that the term originated from Virginia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, and refers to a country bumpkin, a rough countryman, or a backwoodsman. The state is also home to several sporting teams, such as the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
Indiana is a great place to have some good food. But apparently, you have to beware of bloating, too. In this hilarious sign from Tipton, Indiana, a restaurant called Sherrill’s is apparently proud of how their food can make its customers gassy. Good thing the place is not prone to forest fires like Arizona.
