Child Poverty in Memphis
According to Dr. Elena Delavega’s report, the child poverty rate in Memphis was 44.7 percent. According to Delavega, this means that “when you see a child walking down the streets of Memphis, the likelihood of him living in poverty is 50 percent.” Quite a strong point that we should all take a moment to genuinely think about.

This is exactly why the city, and indeed the world at large, need more people like Matt White. One person can only do so much, but if more and more people become like him, it will make a difference. Yes, it will take a lot of effort and astounding resources to fight poverty, but that does not mean we shouldn’t try, especially now that we have technology and social media on our side.
