Chauncy’s Poor Mom
Chauncy’s residence was in South Memphis, and while the empty house left Matt feeling heartbroken, the ill condition of the lad’s mother, Barbara, made him feel so much worse. She seemed to be in a great deal of pain and looked extremely fragile. It was such a shame because Barbara was incredibly sweet and gracious. She was sincerely grateful to Matt for the groceries as well.
It wasn’t just that she was weak, she also had a difficult time getting around on her own. Barbara’s hands and body shake constantly due to her illness. Despite this, Matt could clearly see how much she loved her son, and how much she wished she could take much better care of him. Seeing this heartbreaking situation made Matt realize that the free shopping spree was far from enough. He had to do something even more significant for this loving family.
