It Was No Exaggeration
When the two got to Chauncy’s house, Matt felt incredibly humbled. He could not believe what he was seeing. It was one thing to hear about it and another to actually see that the family literally had nothing. Their house was almost completely empty. For Matt, it was nothing short of heartbreaking.
The Black family seriously had nothing. They didn’t even have proper beds. Instead, they’d pieced together makeshift ones with pads and sleeping bags. There was nothing inside the fridge. In fact, the house was empty apart from the two makeshift beds and a couple of lamps. The sorry state of their home was not the worst thing Matt saw that day, however.
