Lynx don’t live in packs like other animals. Many arctic creatures, like the wolf, live within a group that helps ensure their overall survival. The pack has a leader that herds the other animals to food when it’s time to eat and safety when a threat is nearby. The lynx, by contrast, is an introverted animal.
Lynx are known to prefer hunting solo. They like to prowl the land alone as they search for their next bite. They are also nocturnal animals that prefer to wander around at night. Armed with this knowledge, Newton instantly knew that seeing more than one lynx in the daytime was very rare.
