Different From a Bobcat

Lynx look somewhat like bobcats. In fact, from a distance, they can easily be mistaken for each other. Luckily for Newton, he was up close with a real Canadian lynx, and with his deep knowledge of the area’s wildlife, was able to identify it as such.

To be able to distinguish the difference between the two big cats, The Defenders of Wildlife organization explains, “Canada lynx look similar to bobcats, but there are some distinguishing features. Bobcats have shorter tufts on their ears, the tip of their tail is black on top and white underneath, and bobcats have shorter legs and smaller feet than lynx.” Where they live sets them apart as well. Lynx can be found in northern territories like Alaska and Canada, while bobcats live predominantly in the greater United States area.
