Lynx cubs are naturally playful and while Newton thoroughly enjoyed watching them frolicking, he was much more impressed by the mother lynx. She was in close proximity to her cubs, keeping a watchful eye on them.
He jokingly said, “she has her hands full. I’ve concluded that lynx must spend 1 percent of their waking lives chasing rabbits and 99 percent chasing their kids.” In a way, Newton and the mother lynx were connected that day; she too was a silent bystander, watching the playful antics taking place on the porch.
