Is That… A Girl?
In 2007, NASA’s Spirit rover captured an image of the rocky surface of Mars. The picture seemed to contain more than just rocks, though. See that formation right in the middle? I don’t know about you, but to me, it definitely looks like a statue of a woman with her knees to the ground and one arm pointing at something in the distance.
As expected, speculations from UFO fanatics started to surface. UFO Sightings Daily, a popular UFO blog, surmised that the rock formation was possibly a relic of a female figure created by Martians. However, the Planetary Society immediately put an end to this speculation, explaining that this is just another case of pareidolia, an occurrence in which the human brain assigns familiar patterns to random shapes.
