Oooh Shiny: the Sequel
I think we can all agree that the exciting discovery of that first bright and shiny object had an anticlimactic ending. So, the folks over at NASA decided to investigate a little bit further and studied the close-up images from Curiosity rover’s ChemCam.
What exactly was this shiny object they found on Mars? Dubbed “Little Colonsay,” NASA believes that the object could actually be part of a meteorite because it is just too shiny to be native to Mars. If so, this would not be the first time a rover has caught a glimpse of a meteorite. Back in 2008, the Opportunity rover discovered an iron meteorite on Mars.
