Beautifully Weird
In a region called Noctis Labyrinthus (meaning “labyrinth of the night”), there exists this weird but beautiful formation. It was in 2017 when NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter took a picture of the enchanting mesa. Surrounding it are wavy sand dunes that add to its appeal.
The chunks of boulders and sand dunes found on its surface make for an astonishing view. According to NASA, “this heavily eroded and layered mesa is most likely made up of sedimentary deposits that are being exhumed during the process of erosion.”
