Who doesn’t like shiny things, right? When NASA’s Curiosity rover captured something bright and shiny amidst the dull Martian soil in 2012, everyone became pretty excited. Could it be that the planet contains alien diamonds? Is it possible for Martian jewelry to actually exist?
Tragically, the answer is no. To be clear, this entire picture covers only a very small area: just 1.6 inches. According to NASA scientists, this diamond-looking stone is nothing but a small part of the planet’s geology. Move on diamond-lovers, there’s nothing spectacular to see here, apparently.
