Did Dragons Move to Mars?
Apparently, even the folks from NASA are huge fans of Game of Thrones, which is most likely why the space agency dubbed this image taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter as the “Dragon Scales of Mars.” Surely, the beautiful formations do resemble the scales of a dragon. Did NASA just discover the whereabouts of Drogon, Daenerys’ missing dragon?
While the captured image truly looks like the scales of a mythical creature, there is sadly nothing magical about it. It is actually formed from ancient landscape processes that involve erosion. When the image was released in 2017, it came with an explanation from NASA, saying that the nature of the water that was responsible for this bizarre formation, as well as its interaction with the rock to produce the clay, is difficult to understand.
