Sheila was in such horrible shape when she was rescued from the entertainment center that the US Department of Agriculture agreed to hand over responsibility to In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center, an organization that looks after the social welfare of animals.

The organization focuses on giving shelter to stranded animals and caring for them while they recover from trauma. The USDA instructed In-Sync that if the lioness’ condition failed to improve, they should look at euthanasia as an option since it wasn’t fair for Sheila to keep on suffering.
