While Rick James passed away in 2004, the unnamed woman is reportedly suing his estate over a rape that happened in 1979 in Buffalo, New York. The woman claims that James raped her while she was staying at a home for troubled youths in Buffalo, New York, in 1979, according to The Association Press.

She explained that James visited the adults running the home, which was part of a youth detention program, when he violently attacked her.
