Activists caught wind of this and started blasting Bey on social media for using the word ‘spaz’ and ‘spazzin.’ The same word was used by Lizzo in one of her tracks which she removed after facing backlash.
“I thought we’d changed the music industry and started a global conversation about why ableist language — intentional or not — has no place in music,” disability advocate Hannah Diviney wrote. “But I guess I was wrong, because now Beyoncé has gone and done exactly the same thing.”
Diviney was one of the firsts to speak about Lizzo’s lyrics which were insensitive to the ableist community. Diviney said that her heart sank when she read the same words in Bey’s song Heated.

“The word, not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced,” a spokeswoman for Beyoncé said.
