Make It Special
As mentioned earlier, there were a lot of special effects employed throughout the movie in order to make it more realistic. Thanks to Industrial Light & Magic, headed by Ken Ralston, the movie was able to produce magnificent special effects, from an amputee Vietnam vet to Forrest meeting with assassinated presidents.
The visual effects team employed CGI magic to bring to life deceased characters and record the voices of historical personas. Thanks to the seamless and realistic effects used in the movie, it took out the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
