From Novel to Film
Back when the film was just a script, Warner Bros purchased the casting rights. However, the company had reservations, including a concern that the movie was too similar to Rain Man.
In light of this, the company decided to hand over the rights of Forrest Gump to Paramount, in exchange, they received the screenplay to the action film Executive Decision. Warner Bros. also sweetened the deal with an extra $400,000.
