Choosing a Different Path
Forrest Gump turned out to be one of the few films Michael Conner Humphreys’ worked on. The actor played the young Forrest Gump in the film, for which he received a nomination in the Young Artist Awards. He eventually quit acting and joined the army.
Humphreys got the role after he attended the open casting call in 1993 in Memphis, Tennessee. The producers were after a younger version of Tom Hanks, with the same light eyes and a unique personality. Humphreys fit the bill perfectly.
