Mykelti Williamson’s Career
After the role of Bubba Blue got shot down by several actors, Mykelti Williamson was thrilled to land it. While he was lucky to star in such a successful film, he later had difficulty getting other roles; for the strangest reason, too.
To create Bubba’s character, the producers had a prosthetic lip device made to give the appearance of his protruding lips. People in the film industry didn’t realize that it was fake and so didn’t recognize Williamson when he auditioned for roles. The actor eventually scored parts in Con Air and Heat, among others.
